History of Zamar Educational and Charitable Trust
Serving as the main catalyst for the birth of Zamar, Ms. Regina’s growing up was coiled with untold challenges and difficulties. But life events took a turn after a meeting with an incredible woman by name Sis. Bakiyathai. At a time when female infanticide was on a rampage and girl children were considered a burden, Sis. Bakiyathai boldly sheltered and raised Ms. Regina and many other girls with a godly vision.
Along with instilling hope for a better future, she gave the young girls the best asset ‘Quality Education’ and also married them into well regarded families. Deeply moved by this measure of love and care, Ms. Regina’s heart was kindled with an unquenchable desire and passion to make a difference in the lives of the children in need by providing them high-quality education and opportunities for development.
Mr. Durai Samson, a coveted singer and musician who joined this passion as a Partner for life, provided the needed throttle and in 2004 Zamar Trust was born! The main call of the Trust was to provide high-quality education to children from economically weaker sections of the society.
At the tail end of the academic year 2008 the call witnessed a mammoth challenge. There was no place for the Trust to operate nor an address to give and a terrible financial crunch threatened to cripple the entire vision. But a divine miracle occurred and support came in from Wellspring International (a unit of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries) and the mission revived!
Today after 19 years, Zamar has successfully enabled the holistic education of more than 350 plus children and the vision continues to sail strong. There is no turning back!
